Hi! My name is Aniya and I create one-of-a-kind jewelry through both wire wrapping and silversmithing! My whole life I've been a very creative person - I went from creating duct tape wallets and perler bead art when I was very young to working with polymer clay, crochet, and I like to think that all of that brought me to working with metal! The crazy thing is after I began learning to silversmith, I found out that my aunt, grandfather, and his father were all silversmiths so the craft truly does run in my blood! Creating jewelry has become such an amazing outlet for me and it's absolutely where my passion lies.
I remember seeing wire wrapped jewelry on Pinterest and Instagram and I always wanted to try it! The lockdown definitely gave me that "push" and in December of 2020, I finally went to Hobby Lobby to get my first spools of wire and pliers! I remember being absolutely lost in learning about the different kinds of wire and their sizes, the different types of pliers, the different stones, and the endless possibilities of wire wrapping designs! Shortly after I started, I decided to post some of the jewelry I made on my socials and after making some sales, I made my business instagram account @aniyamarie.jewelry and finally started a new journey and here I am!
I'm completely self-taught for both silversmithing and wire wrapping and I learned through watching videos, reading about different techniques, experimenting, and failing a ton of times! Each piece takes me hours to create and I enjoy every minute of it, I truly pour my heart and soul into everything I create.
I started smithing in March 2024 and instantly fell in love. I always wanted to learn how to but the cost of materials and tools were a bit too high for me to start. All I asked for for my 21st birthday was money to be able to purchase the tools I needed and after saving up for a bit, I finally bit the bullet and purchased everything I would need! I'm 100% self-taught and I primarily work with sterling silver, fine silver, and copper.
Wearing my first Manta Ray piece, I ended up selling this one but I think about it all the time!
When I’m not designing or creating jewelry, I attend college full-time as a cybersecurity major, travel to explore new places, hike, professionally sing, and am the webmaster for my dad's organization www.thekeycommunity.org!
